Tony Johnson Architect

Tony Johnson Architect has served as “Clayton’s Architect” for over 26 years. He has had the privilege of working on hundreds of projects including Main Street Clayton renovations for Boulevard West, the Paper Company, Revival 1869, Brick and Mortar Events, and Vinson’s Pub.

Tony’s extensive experience in both commercial and residential architecture is reinforced by his qualified staff of Architectural Associates. In late 2017, Clayton Johnson, a recent graduate from Clemson and the College of Charleston’s joint Historic Preservation Masters program joined TJA to act as our staff Historic Preservation Specialist. Clayton’s passion for historic preservation and appreciation of modern architecture makes him an integral part of the TJA team. Robin Howell joined the team in 2018 bringing to the table an intrinsic artistic ability in addition to her design degree from NC State. Robin’s attention to detail and natural eye for design has imbued the office with another facet of design excellence

Since moving his office to Downtown Clayton, Tony has been appointed to the Downtown Development Association Board of Directors as well as the Board of Directors for the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. He can often be found enjoying lunch at a local Clayton eatery, volunteering at many of Clayton’s community events, or--if you are lucky--dressed as Elvis and dancing on Main Street at Clayton’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.
