Welcome to my monthly “What’s Going Down This Last Friday” blog post. First and foremost, this year is shaping up to be the most epic season of Last Friday. We have a ton of businesses participating and the hype is surreal. This month in particular is filled with a ton of amazing events all around downtown.
Deep River is releasing Collaboration Without Representation, Saharah Smith is playing at First St Tavern and Three Little Birds will be showcasing wearable art by Erin Brown and of course, my favorite thing to do on a Last Friday, Karaoke is going down at the Flipside. For the family’s, Unique Gifts by Jacquelynn will have Mickey & Minnie Mouse and friends stopping by at 5pm, Sherry’s Signature Cheesecakes will be doing a rock painting class, and Southern Charm Carriages will be offering FREE CARRIAGE RIDES courtesy of HTR!
With so many events happening, and me being a board-certified, fellowship-trained LFiC connoisseur, I thought I’d share with you my TOP 5 MUST-DO EVENTS for this Last Friday in Clayton.
Main Street Jewelers presents Dottie Ryder Shaftner
This month Main Street Jewelers are bringing the heat with local artist Dottie Ryder Shaftner, who’s first solo show, “Feathers and Fluff”, will take place throughout the month of April at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in the Nature Gallery. This is a great opportunity to check out her work before she becomes famous.
Clayton Junior Woman’s Club Bar Crawl
With stops at most of the bars and retail establishments, there is no better opportunity to see what Last Friday is all about than the Junior Women’s Bar Crawl. Plus you get to hang out with some very awesome ladies. BONUS POINTS: BLVD West will be hosting the Bar Crawl After Hours party. It’s where all the cool people will be at the end of the night.
Mike’s Auto Cars & Coffee
Classic Cars, CHECK. Coffee, DOUBLE CHECK. The Heart of Downtown Clayton, ALL THE CHECKS. This is going to be so rad.
Mannings Roof-Top Dance Party
You can dance if you want to, you can leave your friends behind. Cuz if your friends don’t dance, then they’re no friends of mine. There is nothing more “spring-time” than sitting (or dancing) on the roof at Mannings. The weather is going to be perfect for this one.
Revival Turns Two!
My friends at Revival have a HUGE night planned. First, it’s their 2 year anniversary. Then on top of that they’re releasing a brand new menu filled with some of the BEST drinks they’ve ever poured - I HIGHLY recommend the Best Policy. It’s possibly my favorite drink ever. THEN to make it even cooler, Co-Owner Maleah Christie is showcasing new art. This is going to be a FIRE evening for Revival, so you should be there.
